An Electronic Transport Aid (ETA) that the visually impaired can use to navigate their environments (both inside and outside buildings). Uses ultrasonic sensors to detect objects, and provides haptic feedback. Build on Arduino.
Designing involved understanding the problem that current solutions of guide dogs and the white cane had, and researching for methods to reduce cost and injury. Rapid prototyping methods of 3D modeling and 3D printing were used. Some user testing done with members of the lab and professors.
Worked in collaboration with the Biomolecular Science department.
Won best summer research project 2017.
